Location: Durbanville Racecourse
Distance: 110 km; 72 km
The annual Tour de PPA is your last road funride where you can get a good training session in before the Cape Town Cycle Tour. Both the 72 km and the 110 km start at the Durbanville racecourse, and take you over the Tiekiedraai and Vissershok climbs before heading for the undulating areas around Durbanville. The long route is a Cape Town Seeding series event.
- There are 50 ‘Early Bird” entries available at a discounted entry fee
- No-medal discount: You can also elect to pay a discounted entry fee if you do not wish to take a medal at the end of the event (you will, however, still be able to photograph yourself with a medal for your social media!).
From Durbanville, both routes climb up Tiekiedraai before turning right onto the undulating Contermanskloof Road. Cyclists then head right at the Vissershok 4-way stop to tackle the tough climb up Vissershok. After winding their way through Durbanville, cyclists turn left onto Wellington Road and onto the flatter open roads.
The two routes split at the R312/Fisantekraal 4-way intersection, with the shorter route turning left while the 110 km route will continue straight to the R44 where they will turn left. From there long route riders will turn left at Voor-Paardeberg, and left again onto the R304 before joining up with the 72 km route at the silos. All riders then head back towards Durbanville via Adderley Road. The finish is some 4 km from the event venue, with a neutral zone back to the Racecourse.
